Question [mc 4.7.0] Smooth scrolling?

Hello

I'm using Midnight Commander 4.7.0 on Ubuntu 10.04.1, and would like to know if there's a way to change the default behavior when scrolling up/down using the arrow keys: By default, when reaching the last item, MC scrolls down one half-block, which I find very annoying.

Is it possible to reconfigure MC to simply down one item? Google didn't return much on this.

Thank you.

1st, my apologies if I'm knocking this off the 0-Reply list prematurely.

Have you looked inside:
/etc/mc/mc.ext
~/.mc/bindings
or any other files listed under "FILES" in the man page?

Have you tried Google Linux? -- I find it so useful I "program" it into my browsers. That's especially easy in Konqueror 3.5.

Yes, edit ~/.mc/ini thusly:

panel_scroll_pages=0

As there was no /etc/mc/ini, I don't know where this setting can be put for system-wide configuration.

There isn't one on my system either. I suspect you can just make one. Perhaps start by copying your own ~/.mc/ini

BTW, "panel_scroll_pages" is line 42 in my ~/.mc/ini

On another distro that comes with MC 4.8.4 pre-installed, creating /etc/mc/mc.ini with the relevant instruction doesn't solve it. Neither does exiting/reconnecting through SSH or even rebooting the host. Smooth scrolling doesn't work.

Has someone seen this?

Thank you.
